Start with Why

3 November 2020

Why do you want to learn about other cultures and how they function? Is it curiosity? Do you know someone you would like to understand better? Do you live among or want to help people of other ethnic backgrounds? Would it make you more effective at work?

The “why” of wanting to learn culture is important because learning about different cultures is a process that requires time and energy. If you do not have sufficient motivation and purpose, whether that comes from an internal desire for new things or an external factor such as success, you will find it much easier to just be around people who look, think, and act like you do. That’s exactly what a lot of people do!
