One of the four capabilities of the CQ© Model of the Cultural Intelligence Center is what they refer to as CQ Drive. They define this as “the level of interest, drive, and motivation to adapt
Interculturally.”
The idea behind CQ Drive is that if a person does not have an internal reason to learn about other cultures, or see an external benefit that motivates them, they will not have the commitment needed to learn to relate well to people of other cultures. All of the knowledge and information about cultural differences in the world, (and there is a LOT of information) will not bring about any positive change.
It takes time and intentionality. It takes conversations. It takes motivation and commitment…CQ Drive!
